What is a Black Pool and What Causes it?
Just like algae can grow rampantly, they can die off very quickly. Phosphate remover can rapidly kill algae, but you may notice that the pool water turns black. This is known as a black pool and is caused by a concentration of dead algae.
Inadequate circulation & filtration – Algae grows where circulation is poor. A build-up of debris within skimmer baskets, dirt and oils in your pool filter and excessive leaf litter impede water circulation and sanitisation.
Regular cleaning and pool maintenance will enable your equipment to do its job best and combat algae growth. If it has gone too far, shocking your pool with specialised treatment will bring it back to it’s former glory.
As each situation differs, green pools and black pools require an individual expert assessment to best identify the root cause and structure an effective treatment plan. To prevent a potentially unsafe and costly situation, trust your local PPS technician to restore your pool’s appearance and balance the water chemistry back to a healthy ph level, safe for you to swim again.
